The story is simple enough. An old hag searches for a magical flower that will give her eternal youth and beauty. A kingdom is also searching for the said magical flower to save their ill and pregnant queen. The kingdom finds it, and saves the queen, who gives birth to a baby girl with blond hair. The old woman kidnaps the baby princess and raises her as her own so she can use her to keep her beauty and youth. Now, the princess has magical hair (which she got from when her mom ate the flower...well, if I remember right it was made into a tea, so she didn't really eat it. But that's not of any importance). He hair can never be cut, because otherwise it'll lose its magic and turn brown, so Rapunzel is stuck with over 70 feet of hair (seriously can you imagine washing that much hair??)
So the story is about her escaping from her tower for a couple days so she can see the lanterns that show up on her birthday every year. She blackmails a thief, Flynn Rider, into being her guide and off they go.
Now if you're rolling your eyes about how dumb and cliche this sounds, please just ignore the above synopsis, get in your car, and head to your local movie theater. I know my description doesn't do the movie justice. But trust me. You. Need. To. See. This. Movie. It's one of the most beautiful movies ever. Everything looks like a painting, the characters are great and well played, the songs, while maybe not as memorable as The Lion King or The Little Mermaid, are very good, the hero is swoon-worthy, and you'll be cheering for the heroine throughout the whole film.
If you're concerned about content, then have no fear! The violence is not graphic, or and is pretty comical actually (except for one part, but I won't tell you because I hate giving away spoilers!), and the romance is clean and sweet.
So do yourself a favor. Grab your friends or your family and get yourself "Tangled" in this sweet, amazing movie.
